Dog Whistle and Clicker Training Kit

Dogs are man and woman's best friend but they can also be a nuisance at times when they don't listen or behave. You can go out and spend hundreds to have your dog trained by a professional or you can do it yourself at home for a fraction of the cost of a trainer plus you get that bonding experience with your dog. Clicker training is one of those training techniques that to some may seem like a huge task to overcome but really it's very easy to train with a clicker and will have your dog sitting and being a good dog in no time. Let's take a look at clicker trainer in depth some more.

The first step in clicker training is teaching the animal to associate the clicker sound (or other chosen marker such as a whistle)[2] with a treat. Every time the click sounds, a treat is offered immediately.
Next the click is used to signal that a desired behavior has happened. Some approaches are:
  • capturing: catching the animal in the act of doing something that is desired, for example sitting or lying down. Eventually the animal learns to repeat the behavior for a treat.
  • shaping: gradually building a new behavior by rewarding each small steps toward it.
  • luring: using the treat like a magnet to get the animal to move toward the desired position.
Once the behavior is learned, the final step is to add a cue for the behavior, such as a word or a hand signal. The animal will have learned that a treat is on the way after completing the desired behavior.

Second product we are going to focus on is the dog whistle. Now again we love our dogs but sometimes they get excited over something and continually bark. A lot of times it's good for them to bark because they alert you of someone being outside so you are on alert. But other times it's too much like barking constantly or barking at the wrong people. For these times you can use a dog whistle which I will also explain below.

A dog is a type of whistle that emits sound in the ultrasonic range, which people cannot hear but some other animals can, including dogs and domestic cats, and is used in their training
The maximum upper range of human hearing is about 20 kHz for children, declining to 15-17 kHz for middle-age adults. The top end of a dog's hearing range is about 45 kHz, while a cat's is 64 kHz. It is thought that the wild ancestors of cats and dogs evolved this higher hearing range in order to hear high-frequency sounds made by their preferred prey, small rodents. The frequency of most dog whistles is within the range of 23 to 54 kHz, so they are above the range of human hearing, although some are adjustable down into the audible range.
To human ears, a dog whistle makes only a quiet hissing sound. The advantage of the dog whistle is that it doesn't produce a loud irritating noise for humans that a normal whistle would produce, so it can be used to train or command animals without disturbing nearby people. Some dog whistles have adjustable sliders for active control of the frequency produced. Trainers may use the whistle simply to gather a dog's attention, or to inflict pain for the purpose of behaviour modification.
In addition to lung-powered whistles, there are also electronic dog whistle devices that emit ultrasonic sound via piezoelectric emittersThe electronic variety are sometimes coupled with bark-detection circuits in an effort to curb barking behaviour. This kind of whistle can also be used to determine the hearing range for people and for physics demonstrations requiring ultrasonic sounds.

Both the clicker and the whistle can be used on more than just dogs so if you don't have a dog you can still use these products on your other pets. These are great training tools and very easy to use. Below you will find both of these training tools that I got.
The clicker comes with a great wristband so that you have no worries about losing the clicker while you use it and the whistle comes with a lanyard to also keep you from losing it. These two great training tools along with the two e-books they include is a great combo for the price. I tested these both on my dogs and they work wonders. I would purchase this again for my friends with pets cause I think it's a great combo and a great gift for any pet owner.

If you would like to get one of these sets you can find them here on their amazon page which I have included below.

I did get this in exchange for my honest and unbiased review but in no way was my review influenced.
